The school commenced operations in a hired building in Raj Nagar on the 5th September, 1980. The foundation stone of the new building was laid by Sh. Dharamvira, on the 19th of April, 1981 and soon thereafter, the school shifted to its present locale. The school has made steady progress over the past 28 years. Since its affiliation to the CBSE in 1985, 21 batches of class XII have passed through the portals of the school. DPSG is the first school in NCR to get ISO 9001:2000 certification by the international body Det Norske Veritas.
In the past 28 years the school has established its own identity at the National and International level. It is now poised to expand further. In the year 1999 another branch of DPSG was set up in Vasundhara- a beautiful school, which has created a place for itself within the vicinity.
With an aim to serve the under privileged in society, The DPSG Disha has started its operations in Noor Nagar, Ghaziabad in the year 2009.
The DPSG International, set up in the year 2008, is a new project of the Society which will cater to international standards of education. The Society is in the process of expanding further in order to reach out to a larger group of residents of Ghaziabad and areas in the vicinity, fulfilling the vision and mission to which the society and school stand committed.
The ethos of the school lies in its motto Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya which propels people involved with it towards attainment of high goals envisaged in the school vision.
